After the snow has melted and things start looking green again, we encourage the community to think green too! Typically occurring around Earth Day, we place a call for citizens to volunteer a few hours of their time to help us do some spring cleaning by picking up litter from the roadways, parks, and sidewalks. Fort Madison is a beautiful community, and sometimes we all need to pitch in to keep it looking good! In 2011, we added a large-group aspect to this event by offering a traveling plaque to the business or service organization with the most clean-up participants. This event is coordinated by the Community Development Committee.
