The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce strives to offer a variety of programs and events to fulfill our members’ needs. These events require much thought and planning and the assistance of numerous volunteers. If you are interested in serving on a planning committee, we welcome you! Please contact our office at 319-372-5471 or chamber@fortmadison.com for details on committee involvement.
Business Development Committee
From creating a Young Professionals group to evaluating networking opportunities for members, this committee always considers the feedback from local businesses regarding which of their needs are and are not currently being met. Naturally, the primary focus of this group, then, is to find solutions for meeting those needs. The Business Development Committee sponsors several educational opportunities each year with topics ranging from social media to succession planning.
Community Development Committee
Being a successful business means more than good customer service or turning a profit, it is also important to be a good community member. The Community Development committee is charged with finding opportunities for our businesses to engage in the community at large, such as sponsoring the Community Cleanup Day and other beautification efforts.
Events Committee
Everybody needs a break from business sometimes, and that’s what this committee is all about! The Events Committee is responsible for planning the Small Business Appreciation Breakfast, Jack Morris Florida of Iowa Golf Tournament, and many festivities during the Fourth of July Weekend. These events mix recognition and casual networking with a little bit of fun!
Government Affairs Committee
As a businessperson, you have enough on your plate without having to worry about muddling through the mysteries of state and local government. The Government Affairs committee offers updates and digestible information about what is happening in our community and in the State of Iowa, as well as nationally. This group also organizes forums and the annual Elected Officials Receptions to allow you easy access to the people who are making decisions on your behalf.
Industry Committee
Our industrial employers don’t often have the opportunity to easily interact with the community at-large. This committee makes a concerted effort to discover how the community can provide support for industrial business and offer them opportunities to engage outside of their own front doors. The Industry committee also provides these larger employers with community information to use when they are trying to recruit fresh talent to Fort Madison.
