Madison Barley Hops is in full planning mode for 2015. Since this is our first venture in hosting a beer tasting event, bare with us and we’ll get the information out to you as soon as it is finalized. We will be hosting a “Pre- Event Party” at our glass sponsor location: Horan’s Cabaret Irish Pub (and a big thank you to them) on Monday, May 4th from 5:00-8:00 pm where you will be able to purchase your commemorative 5oz tasters mug at a reduced price of $5.00. After that date, they will ONLY be available at the Fort Madison Partners Office, located at 614 9th Street and for $10.00 each

Childcare providers will engage in experiential learning gardening activities (crafts, learning activities, literacy, container gardening basics, and taste testing) at this training.

Enjoy the scenes of the Mississippi River while participating in the 2nd annual Mayhem on the Mississippi Run/Walk. Throughout the 4k course there will be challenging yet fun obstacles to complete. Once finished with the race, take a breather then head up to Faeth’s Cigar Store for the annual Main Street BBQ where you can enjoy plenty of barbequed meats and some live entertainment. May 9th is a day you don’t want to miss in Fort Madison, IA! Participating shops will be open late to invite you in to sample brewery favorites and shop at the same time. The twist will be…this will be throughout Fort Madison as some of our other members want to be part of this fun event. The Fort Madison Barley Hops commemorative tasting mug, sponsored by Fort Madison’s Horan’s Cabaret Irish Pub, will be available prior to at a special event for $5.00 Monday, May 4th from 5-8:00 pm only. After that time they will be available at the Fort Madison Partners Office for $10.00 at 614 9th Street during regular business hours.

The Southeastern Community College (SCC) Auto Club will host its 16th Annual Car Show and Swap Meet on Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will be held at SCC’s Agri-stock Arena on the West Burlington campus, rain or shine. Cars will be on display from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with participant judging from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Concessions will be available. Cars will be judged in 20 different classes, with plaques awarded for first place. Three specialty plaques and a Best-in-Show trophy will also be awarded.
